My name’s Jane Arrowsmith. I’m an avid swimmer, and like to churn up and down the lane at the local pool. Until recently, I was always losing track of the number of lengths I’d done.
It was soooo frustrating, no matter how hard I tried I would always be wondering on my way out to the changing rooms if I had really done what I thought I had.
After attending a course in instant innovation I made and tried out the length counter you see in the picture above.
Then all my friends wanted one. So I started hand making them at home. I still do, even though my kitchen is getting rather full of beads and plastic.
I find swim training a lot less stressful nowadays. Get Swimming is fun and ingenious. - Anna Kalla teacher, Stockholm
Get swimming keeps me motivated. I like how it reminds me how many lengths I have left. The bright colours are always in sight. - Dorothy Evans, Lincoln UK.
I can swim and think of other things at the same time, I couldn’t do that before. - Grace Eriksson, former model, Stockholm, Sweden
Here’s how it works: there are nine small markers and one large. At the start of your lane, attach the counter to the side of the pool with the suckers, and move one marker every time you return. They slide easily so they do not slow you down at the turn. Use the large marker to show groups of tens.
Here’s how Get Swimming takes care counting lengths for you:
- Suckers keep the counter in place.
- The bead combination keeps track of an unlimited number of lengths
- Full instructions provided.
